Pitches

Bisham Abbey National Sports Centre is home to a number of world class sports pitches.  Our football, rugby and hockey pitches are used by some of the leading National and International sports teams for training and competitions.

Football

We have 3 state of the art grass football pitches which are frequently used by local clubs and colleges as well as semi-professional and professional teams.

The pitches are maintained to a high standard, being irrigated daily (or as required).  The full size goals are portable, so accommodate any style of training session or practice.

FAB Football Academy

We also have a full time football academy based onsite - FAB Football academy who run several courses including a full time 2 year scholarship course.

FAB Academy was an ambition of Nas Bashir throughout his professional time in the professional game, Nas recognises that young players do not reach their true potential all at the same time and in his experience it comes at different stages in their teenage years. He has coached players coming into a professional environment late which then gave them the opportunities that other talented boys were not given.

Rugby

Our world class rugby pitch is regularly hired by local rugby teams for training purposes or touch rugby competitions.  The pitch is maintained to a high standard by our on-site grounds maintenance specialists.

Hockey

Bisham Abbey's hockey pitch boasts a new Poligras Olympia playing surface, exactly the same specification as that which was used at the Beijing Olympics and will be used at the London 2012 Olympic Games. The pitch has been inspected and tested for compliance with the latest FIH requirements. The pitch is fully floodlit to 500 Lux and there are also new Olympic-standard goals. The watering system too has been overhauled and adjusted. 

Beside the main pitch, a practice area laid out with two D's provides for dedicated goal-keeping and short-corner training, as well as for warming up and for general practice and training.

There is a 6m video tower behind the goal at one end of the pitch, providing the perfect platform for filming play for coaching purposes. Large shelters give plenty of space for substitutes and for storage of kit bags. The video tower and shelters are interconnected by Ethernet cabling and are provided with power.

As the home of England Hockey, the pitches are regularly used by the Great Britain and England Men's and Women's senior teams.
